Our best dice games for at-home practice for parents and kids!
Students need engaging practice tied to strategies, not rote memorization. Come prepared to shaker, dance and learn our favorite activities that incorporate the use of our most popular manipulative – a math shaker, a modified pill container filled with regular dice. Concepts covered will include: early numeracy concepts including subitizing, counting, number sequence, operational fluency strategies including doubles, near doubles, make 10, commutative and associative properties of addition/multiplication, fact fluency practice, place value concepts including work to the millions, decimals, fraction concepts, mixed operations, multi-digit operations and probability. Each activity will start with a quick 30 second music brain break – this movement allows students and teachers alike to have a quick reset and transition to a math activity that engages the learner. Student samples, journal ideas and gameboards will be shared. Ideas are easy to differentiate and use whole class or in small group/centers. Come prepared to shake,,rattle and roll! If you don’t have our math shakers PARTICIPANTS SHOULD HAVE 7 – 14 REGULAR DICE ON HAND TO TRY THE ACTIVITIES.
YOU WILL NEED: Seven regular six sided spotted dice (or a virtual dice roller) OR a math shaker, as well as a printout of the pdf handout, which will be made available for you to download after you checkout with your cart.
Join us in this new format – your students will thank you!
