Our best games for fact fluency, operations and early algebra
Many students experience difficulty with middle years math as a result of not having solid understanding, competency and fluency with math concepts they were to have mastered earlier in their school career. Come prepared to learn and play math games that engage middle years students and help them understand and practice math skills and concepts that build the foundation they need for middle years math success. The games will incorporate the use of cards and dice as manipulatives. Throughout the session, participants will learn easy ways to differentiate the games to provide opportunities for students to learn and practice their math at a level that makes sense for where they are at. Teaching tips for instruction as well as class and manipulatives management will be shared along with ways to adapt the games for in-class, small group and virtual instruction settings. A handout will be provided and examples of student work will be shared.
YOU WILL NEED: Regular six sided spotted dice (or a virtual dice roller), a deck of cards, and a printout of the pdf handout, which will be made available for you to download after you checkout with your cart.
Join us in this new format – your students will thank you!
